VI. State Audits

Foothill was audited by the State Chancellor's Office this Summer. We aren't being singled out, audits happen to all colleges all the time. Unfortunately, it meant several of our colleagues had to come in and get us information requested by the auditor during summer break. Thanks to Karl Schmidt, Michael Sims, Simon Pennington, Keith Lee, Joe Ragey and Eric Kneelend, you were fantastic! Your prompt responses have been noted by the College, and you made our Division look great!

In this budgetary climate, I think it's best if we as a division prepare for audits on a regular basis and keep the records in a safe online server so we can comply promptly if/when audited. This means I won't have to contact you when you are on break. Here's an interesting fact: more than a third of the classes selected for audit were from our division.

If your course has a TBA hour associated with it, you have to keep a record of

a) What the student did.

b) How many hours the student put in during the quarter.

This information, obviously, should be in your syllabus (the auditor asks for that, too). To make this all easy, send us your syllabus at the beginning of the quarter, and then a class list at the end of the quarter with the TBA hours on it for each student.
