DYAD: an exhibition that explores the relationship between two pieces of art. DYAD is a group show of thirty local artists who have chosen two pieces of their art to exhibit together as a unit. The theme of the show is intended to create an exhibition of paired works that suggest a dialogue or create a dynamic interaction; be it complimentary or opposite, attraction or repulsion or somewhere in between the works are attempting to engage each other as well as the viewer. - Curated by Valerie Raps
Reception: Friday, February 3rd from 6-9pm with live Classical Guitar by Gene Torchia. Gallery is open by appointment only. Contact: Valerie Raps at info@artarkgallery.net
Femme Fatale: a seductive and haunting exhibition exploring the complexities of femininity. Featuring the work of Bay Area artists Jody Alexander, Connie Begg, Victoria May, Stephanie Metz, and Sylvia Min, Femme Fatale is both a subtle homage and commentary of domesticity, social constructs, and the feminine experience.
Exhibition: February 3 to March 17, 2012, opening reception: Friday, February 3, from 7 to 10 pm. Panel discussion with the artists: Sunday, March 11, 2pm.
Day On The Hill 2012
Need to advertise your program? Looking for a new pool of potential students? Day on the Hill, Foothill's New Student and Parent Open House is scheduled for Saturday, May 5, 2012 from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. and we would like you to be a part of it. Free lunch and entertainment honoring Cinco de Mayo!
What is Day on the Hill?
* It is an annual open house for potential students and parents with the primary objective of getting new enrollments.
Why should I participate?
* You know how tough it is to get the word out regarding your program to
potential students. Take advantage of this captive audience.
How can I participate?
* We have three options:
• Staffing an information table
• Hosting an open house for your program/facility
• Presenting a workshop about your program
Please contact Alex Duran (x6973) or Antoinette Chavez (x6965) to let them know how you would like to participate.
Smithwick Update
If you weren't at our division meeting this quarter, the Smithwick Theatre is on track, but the parking lot will not be available until Spring Quarter. I realize parking is severely impacted this quarter (lot 8 was nearly full this morning at 7:30 AM), if you are having problems finding parking when you arrive, send me an email and I'll direct you to some lots you may not know about.
McLeod Hosts Mardi Gras
Todays Mardi Gras is hosted by Bruce McLeod. Drop by for a bite to eat and some collegial conversation - the rest of the quarter is wide open, so sign up now!
Got An Item?
Are you performing or exhibiting somewhere? Giving a presentation? I'll be happy to put it in the TT! Items run once, so try to send it to me the week before your event. Even though it says Tuesday Times, I generally send it out Monday afternoon since many of our readers are somewhat sparse in checking their email :-) My email address is andersonmark@foothill.edu. Pictures are welcome, as are .pdf posters, etc.
